A septic tank is a vital part of your Hampton Bays, NY home. It has the all-important job of collecting and processing all of the wastewater that gets flushed down your toilets and drains. Just like every other integral system in your home, your septic tank needs to be properly maintained. Unfortunately, however, many Hampton Bays homeowners overlook the importance of routine septic maintenance and end up paying the price (and more than just monetarily). Here’s a look at some of the top reasons why routine septic tank service is an absolute must.
Picture your toilets and drains (and everything else that gets flushed down them) overflowing. Imagine the foul odor of raw sewage permeating through your home and property. Visualize wastewater flooding your house and yard. These situations are less-than-pleasant to think about, to say the least, but they’re a real possibility if you don’t have your septic tank serviced on a regular basis.
While a cesspool is designed to accommodate a large amount of water, it does have a limit. The waste that gets flushed down the drains and toilets can clog up the complex system of pipes that lead to your septic tank. Additionally, tree roots can infiltrate the pipes and ground settling can shift the tank. All of these factors combined could lead to major disasters, like the situations described above. By having your septic system professionally serviced, you can avoid these disasters.
During routine septic service, a professional will not only pump out and clean your cesspool, but the system will be inspected for potential problems. If any issues are spotted – tree root infiltration, cracks, clogs, etc. – the necessary repairs can be made before chaos ensues.
Want to protect your family and yourself from harm? Then you’re going to want to have your septic tank serviced. If you don’t have your septic tank pumped, cleaned, and inspected regularly, you are putting yourself and your loved ones in danger.
Not only is an overflowing cesspool gross, but it’s also extremely hazardous. The wastewater is laden with harmful bacteria and viruses, and depending on what’s been flushed down your drains and toilets, it may contain toxic materials, such as pesticides and chemicals. Exposure to contaminated wastewater can put you and your loved ones at risk of developing serious illnesses.
Contaminated wastewater isn’t the only danger; if your septic tank is old or was poorly installed, there’s also the risk of collapse. Cesspool collapses are exceptionally dangerous and possibly even fatal.
By having your septic system professionally maintained and inspected, you’ll protect yourself, your family, and anyone else who comes into contact with your property from serious harm.
A lot of Hampton Bays, NY homeowners know that they need to have their septic tanks serviced, but they put it off because they don’t want to pay another expense. In reality, though, not servicing your cesspool will end up costing you a lot more than you’d pay to have it pumped and inspected. The damages that are associated with a cesspool overflow or collapse are exorbitant. If you really want to avoid a major expense, you should make routine septic service a top priority.
Hampton Bays is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in the Town of Southampton in Suffolk County, on Long Island, in New York. It is considered as part of the region of Long Island known as The Hamptons. The population was 13,603 at the 2010 census.
The hamlet was settled in 1740 as “Good Ground”, which became the main hamlet of eleven in the immediate area. The area where Main Street, also known as Montauk Highway, is located today, was the approximate area of the original hamlet.
There were ten other hamlets in the area. They were called Canoe Place, East Tiana, Newtown, Ponquogue, Rampasture, Red Creek, Squiretown, Southport, Springville, and West Tiana. Most of these hamlets were settled by one or two families and had their own school house. Many of the names from the former hamlets are still featured as local street names today.
As a result of the growth of the surrounding hamlets and villages in the Hamptons and increased tourism from New York City, the eleven hamlets, although generally called “Good Ground” collectively by the early part of the 20th century, amalgamated under the name “Hampton Bays” in 1922. The motive behind the name change was for the hamlet to benefit from the “Hamptons” trade that the community’s neighbors were experiencing.Learn more about Hampton Bays.
